Opera Gala 2011 (Page 2) Page 1 .... Page 2 .... Page 3.....Page 4
"I thought it was a fabulous fusion of color and musicality in the New Year of the Rabbit. And as in previous years, the women are always so elegantly dressed. It was such a gorgeous night at the Opera! Bravo to Ian Campbell!" - Jennifer Greenfield "We had a beautiful gala celebrating the Season Opening of the opera, "Turandot." And we were so happy to honor a SD Opera mainstay, Esther Burnham. Esther has been generous patron to the San Diego Opera board for many years and has been instrumental to the continued growth of San Diego Opera. And she looked beautiful in her Chinese red gown! The gala after the opera was just glorious! The flowers by Kathryn Gaynor and red satin tables and Chinese themed back drops by Jim Lennox were unsurpassed; they were just works of art. Divas Lee Clark, Rusti Bartell and of course, our Diva leader, Iris Strauss worked very hard on this gala and we can only hope they continue with such elegant and inspired work. The staff at the Grant did a wonderful job with the Asian inspired cuisine. It was a wonderful way to start our Opera season with a sell out performance and sell out gala!" - Karen Cohn
