On November 21st, 2008, San Diego's fashionable gathered for a day of silent and live auction shopping, a beautiful luncheon, and honors to San Diego's 'Dressed to the "Nth Degree' chosen by KUSI's 'Style Guy,' Leonard Simpson. Leonard, also of Fashion Forward, produced the day's fashion show too. Whew! Among the mix at the hosting U.S. Grant Hotel were Honorary Chair Sally B. Thornton, who was and is one of the fashion best dressed, Event Chair Linda Masters, think cute, petite, smart dynamo, and Co-Chair Merle Lotherington, and the best dressed in diplomatic, alphabetical order. 10 Best Dressed Women: Valerie Cooper, Daran Grimm, Mary Beth Kellee, Michala Lawrence, Ferne McCuen, Esther Jane Paul, Sally B. Thornton, Natalie Daryl Walter, Feben Yohannes, and Barbara ZoBell. 10 Best Dressed Men: Michael Bixler, Harry Cooper, Todd Figi, Bertrand Hug, Scott Johnston, Jessie Knight, Jr., Reuben Poon, David Reicks, Jonathan Schiff and Dean Spanos. It was tough choosing the best dressed. But Leonard Simpson did it. And it was for fun and charity after all. Proceeds for the day's event went to benefit the Robotic Surgery Department at Scripps Mercy."Scripps Minimally invasive Surgery Program offers patients the precision of robotics, the skill of experienced surgeons and the personalized care that has become synonymous with Scripps" Bottom line. Less risk and quicker recovery." More there supporting this healthy cause included Pat O'Connor, Jeanne Jones and Don Breitenberg, Diane Clarke, Lynda Kerr, Jennifer Greenfield, A.G. Spanos stepping in for his father Dean Spanos who could not make the event. Susie Spanos, Brittany Simpson, Kathryn Murphy, Mary Walker, Carol Karlovich, Micki Farrell, Darcy Smith, David and Derelys Delano, Taylor Miller, Danica and Edoardo Ciulli, and Jessie Knight Jr. with an entourage of family. That would be Jessie's wife Joye Blount, Joye's sister Vickie Buckner, Joye's Mother Margaret Davis, and Jessie's niece LaVonnya Fisher, a Phd candidate at USD. Others cheering Jessie on as best dressed were Jim Wiesler, the former Vice Chairman of the Board of Bank of America, Mary Jane Wiesler, and Reo Carr, the Associate Publisher of the San Diego Business Journal. Kima was there too. She was 'tail wagging' proud that Daddy Scott Johnston was on the best dressed list!

The Buzz
Ivor Royston, one of the brilliant guys at The Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, just hosted a phenomenal event. Ivor put together a networking night of biotech, high tech, and green tech at a special evening at the La Jolla Playhouse. Guests mingled, synergized smarts and enjoyed a production of the Playhouse's musical Xanadu.... you know that phenom production by Christopher Ashley that's adding up heaps and heaps of praise. Ivor's evening could have been collectively termed, "how to succeed at business....and the arts!"
Sally B Thortnton just Chaired one her fave events, Gingerbread City 2008. Held at the Hilton La Jolla Sally organized a beautiful team of Gingerbread Masterpiece designers, catered food from some of San Diego's top chefs, and a tremendously, well dressed crowd of supporters for the cause. Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego County was the beneficiary.
......And as Sally said last year, the event is "tasty fun.!"
And special thanks to Joan Bowes for her gracious invite to us for the John Bolton lecture and private dinner at USD recently....thank you!
Freddy B. and Nancy, that's Fred Borrelli and Nancy Borrelli hosted a very popular invite to their oceanfront Shores home December 6th. Soccer coaches for the La Jolla Soccer League came and enjoyed cocktails, appetizers and awards to all for being great soccer coaches and inspirations to phenomenal teen teams.
