The invite for the 'Très Gourmet' gala benefit for the Rebecca and John Moores UCSD Cancer Center encouraged guests to come and enjoy an epicurean evening. Guests were invited to the 'wine cellar' at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina, where appetizers and fine wines were de rigeur.
And de rigeur were the beautifully dressed patrons. Muffy Walker Reed wore detailed Chanel. Barbara Bloom and Iris Strauss were well 'suited.' Others among the beautifully dressed crowd there included Ann Campbell, Jeanne Jones, Lee Goldberg, Event Co-Chairs Sue Kalish and Anne Otterson, Dede Carlson, Kate Adams with those South Sea Pearls, and Emcee Barbara-Lee Edwards of CBS News 8 in a pretty strapless gown.
The 'celebrities of the evening' though were wearing Chef uniforms sans toque. Among the fabulous cuisinières there were Jean Michel Diot of Tapenade, Bernard Guillas of The Marine Room, Fabrice Hardel of Le Fontainbleau, Gavin Kaysen of El Bizcocho at Rancho Bernardo Inn, Michel Malecot of The French Gourmet, Patrick Ponsaty of Bernard 'O, Eddy Rocq of Leana Restaurant & Rocq Catering, Dominque Tougne of Bistro 110, Philippe Verpiand of Cavaillon Restaurant, and Pascal Vignau of Savory Casual Fare.
The Cancer Center's namesakes were there. In fact Rebecca and John Moores offered to donate $360,000 for a fancy machine called the ALIGN RT. That was if their gift was matched that evening. Consider it done.
Others there festively supporting the Center included Scottie and Steve Brown, Mac and Tim Canty, Vicky and Chris Eddy, Carol and Dr. Jeffrey Chang, Marilee and Steve Warfield, Ellen and Tim Zinn, Stephanie and Bill Tribolet, Iris and Matthew Strauss, Renee and Duane Roth, Marilyn and Doug Sawyer, Vicky and Tom Reed, Muffy Walker Reed and John Reed, Gabriele and John Otterson, Sheila Potiker, Conrad Prebys, Lorraine and Issac Levy, Joan and Irwin Jacobs, Sheri and Dr. Stuart Jamieson, Event Co-Chairperson Sue Kalish with her husband Lyle Kalish, and Lee and Frank Goldberg.
Supporter Kate Adams had this to say about the evening. "The Chefs and Wineries are both excellent and generous - making this event one of the most fun parties in town....and they improve every year!! What great creativity."
Emcee Barbara-Lee Edwards remarked "I love this event! It's such a rare chance to sample all this first rate cuisine, have a glass of wine with some great people, and raise money for a truly fantastic cause. Love it!"
And it is with love that these generous donors come together to improve the lives of so many! Now, that is something to cheer about!
