The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego held its 30th Annual Monte Carlo fundraiser September 9th, 2006 at the museum's La Jolla location. Named Monte Carlo! Monte Carlo,! Elegant guests arrived in the requested black and white theme. Co-Chairs Lise N. Wilson and Steve M. Strauss recreated a garden setting of the real Monte Carlo in Monaco.
Dinner guests arrived early to enjoy the caviar bar, champagne and other delectable's. A late night party crowd arrived after dinner. All enjoyed French desserts, discotheque dancing, gambling, and a silent auction. The silent auction was the only thing silent as guests partied into the night.
Among the evening's patrons were Kathryn Murphy and Lance Peto, Steve Poskus, Gilda and Victor Vilaplana, Pauline Foster, Nina and Bob Doede, Valerie and Harry Cooper, the MCASD's David C. Copley Director Hugh Davies and his wife Lynda Forsha, Anne Farrell, Brigette and Alex de la Vega, Victoria Hamilton and Paul Hobson, and Dianne York-Goldman in a white beaded gown by Designer Isabell Kristensen. Dianne was accompanied by her husband, Dr. Mitchel P. Goldman of course, and their guest, Designer Isabell Kristensen of the real Monte Carlo. Isabell bucked the black and white trend in a vibrant yellow gown of her own design. At 6 feet tall, and Danish born gorgeous, Isabell was a real standout.
More there catching their share of attention were Stacy and Paul Jacobs, Debby and Hal Jacobs, Kathy and Nick Conner, Lynne and Dr. Steve Wheeler, Sally and John Thornton, Liz and Chris McCullah, Jeanne Jones and Don Breitenberg, Mary and Jim Berglund, Sheri and Dr. Stuart Jamieson, Margo Schwab and Scott Johnston, and Max Gurney, the Honorary Consul of Monaco, retired. Retired so to speak. Max is also an Honorary member of the La Jolla- Monaco Exchange and he will convince you in 5 minutes why you should go to Monaco. And, you'll go! Meanwhile....
Monte Carlo! Monte Carlo! was the next best thing and for a great cause. Proceeds from this event go to the Museum's education programs and exhibitions. Generous underwriting support for this year's event came from La Jolla Spa MD, Cooley Godward and level Vodka.
