EPIC, EPIC, EPIC!!! That is the genius of Santi Aguerre of REEF who conceptualized the first Liquid Nation Ball along with surf industry giants for the health care of their special friends on the Mentawi Islands. The Mentawi's are not only about dream waves but a kind local people who have malaria killing off half their children under the age of 5.

But allowed no more! ..... Since the October 1999 visit of Dr. Dave Jenkins, combined with the cooperation of Village Shaman Julius Talleleu, Dr. Jenkins and friend Andrew Griffiths formed Surf-Aid International with the goal of malaria control programs funneled by support from like minds all over the world.

And so surfers united September 11, 2004 at the La Jolla coastal surf palace of "Jeffe" Fernando Aguerre, Co-Founder of REEF. Over 450 special surf guests were welcomed to an unparalleled evening viewing Fernando's outstanding collection of surfboards and an experience of Argentinian hospitality amidst 3 stories of beautiful oceanfront views.

The welcoming commenced with mojitos, superb Indonesian cuisine by Veronica Boudou's Del Sur Catering, and of course a greeting by the King and Queen of the Surf Palace, Fernando Aguerre and his very hot Queen Vicky Mussio.

The list of surf cool people there included the Event Honorary Chair Kelly Slater, Chairman Santiago Aguerre > the other big "Jeffe" and C0-Founder of REEF, the very important beauties and Co-Chairs Louise Balma of Transworld Surf and Cecilia Aguerre > she is married to Santiago Aguerre, Bob McKnight the CEO and Founder of Quiksilver ( by the way Bob I introduced your International Roxy Face beauty Veronica Kay to her husband to be Scott Baker!), Billabong's USA and European CEO's Paul Naude and Derek O'Neill, Rip Curl's Founder Doug Warwick and Rip Curl's European CEO Francois Payot, Volcom's Founder and CEO Richard Woolcott, of course those multi-lingual multi-cool REEF men Santiago and Fernando Aguerre, and a list of who's who on the waves past and present including Shaun Tomson, Rabbit Bartholmeu , Pete Townend, Rob Machado with his wife Patricia and children and Mother in Law, Taylor Knox, Brad Gerlach, Damian Hobgood, Holly Beck, Luke Egan, Mick Lowe, Nathan Hedge, Kieran Perrow, and a whole lot more.

Special items auctioned were autographed surfboards which raised big funds in addition to the $175 per person ticket price. You do the math!
