The Buzz - A Birthday Week at 'The Palace' for One Part-Time La Jollan, A Multi-Billionaire's Lavish Multi-Million Birthday Party for Twins, A Thousand Dollar Lunch and No Caviar?, and What is Going On With Our Youth?

British born Elaine Robbs celebrated her birthday in style at 'The Palace," that's the Gstaad Palace, quite a one of a kind international, 'jet set,' 'titled rich thing,' hotel in the Swiss Alps at Gstadd. Aside from Ssshuzzing down the slopes, there are great restaurants, and of course, the GreenGo Night Club.

Of note, Elaine's brother-in-law Christian Robbs, is married to one the Greek shipping dynasty's beauties. Theodora or 'Dora' to her friends, is a natural beauty with quite a big heritage. Not many people can say, in a low key way of course, that their Godmother was Christina Onassis.

Years back, by the way, Christian was staying at The Palace, the real one in Monaco, when Princess Grace died on the Corniche. Christian has stayed very close friends with HSH, Prince Albert of Monaco.

Meanwhile stateside in Las Vegas, one of the ' parties of the year' was thrown by T. Boone Pickens for his pretty wife Madeleine, and her twin sister Christine. One of La Jolla's "It" couples, Dianne York-Goldman and Mitch Goldman were among the very lucky invites. The Bellagio was the setting, Estimates say the rose and tulip flower bouquets alone in the contiguous ballrooms cost a quick half million dollars. But T. Boone is Texan, and things are done big and graciously by Texans. Especially when they are oil billionaires with a beautiful wife.

Diana Ross sang for the entertainment, the chosen color theme was mellon-tangerine, and the Pink Tattinger and other fine wines flowed. There were beautiful cages filled with live monarch butterflies, and floral arrangements of three of Madeleine and Christine's dogs. You see animals are a big part of their lives.

After Hurricane Katrina hit, the Pickens chartered a jet and helped personally rescue over 100 animals. They are also big nationally lobbying to prevent needless race horse exportation and slaughter.

Good for you, and Happy Birthday Madeleine and Christine!

More Texans making the news are Oscar and Lynn Wyatt. She being a Sakowitz heir, and hostess with the mostest every Summer at her villa in the South of France. He being yet another oil tycoon famous for dealing with the Mid East. Oscar's oil deals may be under scrutiny, but as a tough Texan, he will survive.

I remember their son Steve Wyatt while he was working in London. He and a few of us Americans were all at a Thai restaurant for a dinner party. Low and behold Fergie and her assistant Julia arrived soon afterwards and joined us. I still don't know if I did the right formal greeting to the Duchess Fergie, but I can tell you that she and Steve soon became world news.

On the aside, Fergie has very pretty green eyes in person.

Speaking of world news, if you happen to be headed towards the Maldives, check out the Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa Ittha which is skedded to be opened April 15th. The resort features the first all glass restaurant 5 meters down in the beautiful Indian Ocean. Don't worry, you won't have to scuba to get there. They have a tubular staircase walkway to facilitate a dry entrance to your table.

Speaking of dining, local billionaire Ted Waitt will be hosting a few other billionaires, and one definite Presidential candidate, Senator Hillary Clinton. With "La Hillary" in attendance, who needs caviar for the $1,000 a plate lunch.

And check out Gary Parker Collection March wine picks.... they are outstanding if you love reds! The Domus Aurea in particular is a steal....That price, that taste.... !

And now to the, "I am mystified."

Every time I think the teenage generation is progressing, comes something like the following. It has hit national news that the big teen fad is "hooking up." Basically non-commital degrees of sexual moments with no kiss and tell later. And now, "going commando" too!

Seems Britney Spears' press a few months ago has had quite an impact on teens. Some female teens are foregoing their panties and going "commando."

That's "The Buzz "for now ** Best ** Margo
