WinterFest Gala 2011 The Westgate Hotel came to life the evening of March 4th as supporters of the La Jolla Music Society gathered in celebration of the 2011 Winter Fest Gala. Honoring the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra’s San Diego debut, this year’s Winter Fest Gala assumed the theme of an enchanting Viennese Ball. Elegantly-clad in gowns, tails, and ample jewels reminiscent of traditional Viennese glamour, guests took the theme to heart! Among those in attendance were Dick and Barbara Enberg, Joyce Gattas, John Venekamp, Channel 6’s Raff Ahlgren, Bea and Bob Epsten, Dolly and Victor Woo, musician Ray Chen, Hyun Kim, Sue and Peter Wagener, and Chair of the Board, Leigh Ryan. The evening’s co-chairs, Fiona Tudor and Katherine Kennedy appeared in their finest to graciously greet gala attendees as they mingled at a social champagne reception at the Westgate Hotel to inaugurate the evening. The night’s extravagance continued with a delectable dinner prepared by executive chef Fabrice Hardel. Guests were treated to Steelhead trout with fingerling potatoes followed by veal tenderloin with a red currant sauce. Yum! Dinner was followed by a performance at the Civic Theater by the Vienna Philharmonic, one of the world’s most outstanding orchestras. The gala attendees then enjoyed the opportunity to continue the night’s festivities at a post-concert reception at the Westgate Hotel with crisp champagne, decadent desserts and endless waltzing. Benefiting the La Jolla Music Society’s education outreach and artistic programs, this year’s gala auction featured sought-after items to highlight music’s long-standing, distinguished history. Guests bid on luxurious vacation packages to the European cities of Vienna and Salzburg with hopes of experiencing musical tradition first hand.
