Style Awards 'Night of Stars' 2010

The Fashion Group International held its 10th Annual Style Awards March 26th, 2010 at the Westin Gaslamp Quarter.

Among the many in attendance were 'Friends of Burl Stiff' Jeanne Jones and Don Breitenberg, Sheri and Stuart Jamieson, David Copley, Judith Harris and Colette and Ivor Royston. Burl was a deserved honoree that night not only for all of his coverage of society events, but also for his fashionable flavor he added to his UT columns. He also has been known to do some rather beautiful design work himself, one of which was worn by patron Jeanne Jones.

More there enjoying the evening included Sheryl White, Joyce Glazer, Connie Conard, Lena Evans, designer Malgorzata Slocomb, Olga Krasnoff, Peggy Matthews, designer Lizz Russell, Gretchen Bergan, Co-Chairs Julie Fought and hat designer Diana Cavaganaro. Diana's husband George Bates was our excellent photographer that evening.

Designer Sue Wong was honored with the Fashion Industry Style Award, Viriginia Napierskie for the Community Outreach Style Award, Burl Stiff received the Media Style Award, Susan Lazear the Education Style Award, Maria Barry the Interior Design Style Award, and Gordana Gehlhausen the Rising Star Style Award.

The Style Awards Gala is an annual event that has raised funds for the Fashion Group International since 1996. The gala has 3 purposes. "To recognize leaders in varied industries in San Diego; raise funds for the Monarch School in San Diego; and provide scholarships to students earning degrees in majors leading to careers in the fashion industry."

They forgot the 4th reason. To generate excitement about fashion. And they did!

Gretchen Productions produced the fashion show that featured singers, dancers and great fashion including Mr. B, Lizz Russell Couture, Designer Millinery, Jesus Estrada, Goga and Sue Wong.

* Margo Schwab, more formally known as Margaret E. Schwab, has produced, written, interviewed and photographed for various media organizations since 1989. Schwab attended Holton Arms School, La Jolla Country Day School and La Jolla High School. Schwab has a B.A. from Scripps College, spent a business internship with S.A.I.C., Science Applications International Corporation, and earned a Masters of Business degree, M.B.A., from the University of San Diego by way of Claremont Graduate School . Schwab additionally took college courses from Harvard University, and Syracuse University. Schwab volunteers for numerous charity organizations. She also continues to support animal organizations and the prevention of people and animal abuse. Schwab is the editor of The Social Diary.
