On April 26th, 2007, lucky invitees arrived for an evening of 'Design and Wine' at the La Jolla location of Seaside Home, a premiere home design atelier. Fresh{er} Restaurant and Bar of La Jolla cuisine, Fallbrook chardonay, a host of pretty locals including one time Town & Country Magazine's cover girl Sarah Burton, and beautiful furniture by such high end designers as Ralph Lauren, Baker and Henredon, helped set the party tone.
And it was a perfect party tone thanks to the knowing eye of Seaside Home owner Sheryll Jackman. Sheryll has quite a lot of credentialing to back up her choices of furniture, linens and more. Not only is Sheryll a past President of the San Diego Chapter of ASID, she is also President and Director of the Jackman Group, a multi-disciplinary firm offering planning, design and construction in Coronado. And Sheryll is a licensed General Contractor, a Real Estate Broker, a Certified Interior Designer, a past instructor at the Design Institute of San Diego, and an appointee of the Coronado City Council as one of 12 members of the Business Areas Advisory Committee, a group directed to conceive and promote a master plan for the business areas of Coronado.
Sheryll described the concept behind Seaside Home's Coastal Chic. "The feeling of a coastal room should be crisp, clean, and refreshing by using a color scheme that calls on sea blues, crisp whites, sandy tans and an array of natural fibers to bring the outdoors inside. The key to beach chic is picking a few elegant items to pair with light linens and fabrics that are made for everyday use. The right blend of natural textures and seaside decor can create the look and feel of casual elegance by the sea--- even inside your home!"
Guests nibbled on Ahi stuffed Piquillo Red Peppers, Asparagus and Aioli, Shrimp with home-made cocktail sauce, Feta stuffed grilled Squid, Mushroom Bruschetta on Toasted Parmisian, Truffled Brie and Ahi Poke in a light mango based sauce. And it was Fresh{er}! Owner Arturo Kassel confessed he is at Chino Farms and other select purveyors each and every morning.
Seaside Home in La Jolla is Sheryll's second store, the first being in Coronado. An outlet store called Odds and Ends will soon open in Coronado.
