"The San Diego Police Historical Association is so pleased that the community joined the festivities of the Museum grand opening. We hope to be a productive and interesting addition to our city. We would like to thank all of our friends who support our cause and hope that we can continue to provide a look into the history of San Diego and the Police Department for future generations. "

- Rick Carlson,

President and Founding Member of the San Diego Police Museum

Among those there were February 27th, 2009, were Rick Carlson, County Supervisor Ron Roberts, Police Chief William Lansdowne, San Diego Police Department's first Purple Heart Award winner Officer Scott Johnston, Police Captain Shelley Zimmerman, Coucilwoman Marti Emerald, and super museum volunteer, Gina Muir.

The museum is very interesting with artificacts from the 1800's on .... it's a facinating walk back into history.
