On June 11th, 2011, the beautiful historic estate grounds of Jim Urbina, Jeff Johnston and Robert Hunt were open for supporters of P.A.W.S. San Diego County. That's Pets Are Wonderful Support. This fundraiser helped PAWS dual purpose mission to "assist low income, elderly, disabled or chronically ill individuals, helping with the care & life maintenance of their therapeutic animals. We’re also a resource for those clients who may be isolated or vulnerable, providing access to services that enhance their well-being. Our services include monthly delivery of pet food and supplies, veterinary care vouchers, flea medication, dog walking, transportation to veterinary care appointments, and referrals to human service organizations."
Live entertainment featured classic Rock & Roll by Rea Carey & Friends; Lounge Singers Andy Anderson and Nathan Fry from Top of the Park at Park Manor Suites, and the R&B, tuxedo-clad Remembrance Group. Stone Brewery was a sponsor and so was the Fish Market. A decadent dessert bar was a hit too! Well-behaved, leashed dogs were welcome as usual..... they loved the yummy treats by Fido & Company especially those filet mignon mini-cupcakes. The 4th Annual Best Dressed Pooch Contest was held. Although all were winners....Kima Schwab Johnston....aka 'Lady Dogga Gaga' in homage to Lady Gaga won.... You know she was Born this Way! Among the many there were Chair Lisa Lipsey, Clifford Albright, Sandie Lampe of KUSI’s Pet Patrol and Leonard Simpson KUSI's 'Style Guy (they were both pet contest judges), District Attorney (future Mayor of San Diego??) Bonnie Dumanis, Lori and Bill Walton, and a whole potpourri of very cute dogs of every size.
