It is important to give some
big accolades to Dianne York-Goldman and Pat
Brown for their participation in the "Go
Red for Women Day" luncheon, since so many women
are affected by heart related diseases. So here are the quotes.
First from Dianne
York-Goldman of La Jolla Spa-MD, who is a big sponsor
of the event and the cause.
"Yes, I did attend the
American Heart Association National Go Red for Women Day Luncheon
at the Hotel Del Coronado. The luncheon was a huge success with
a ballroom full of red suits, dresses, ties and pocket handkerchiefs
worn by all. It is amazing what the color red can do. Everyone
was in an upbeat mood, excited, and happy to help this problem
of heart disease---the number one killer of women.
La Jolla Spa MD had a booth at Hotel Del Coronado with licensed
nurses and doctors answering medical questions. There was also
massage therapists available to administer chair massage. Makeup
artists were available at the booth to apply DYG mineral makeup
--- especially red lip gloss to the attendees who were mostly
dressed in red. La Jolla Spa MD participated in pre and post lunch
activities that included health screenings, educational seminars,
and lectures.
The keynote speaker was Dr. Carole Banka, who
was a little worried about her hair before her presentation. She
kept asking me if her hair was falling down. She had it perfectly
placed in a bun and the bun stayed in its proper placement the
entire luncheon. Dr. Banka delivered a very informative speech
about heart disease. She presented many interesting statistics.
After listening to the keynote speaker, I have actually began
cutting my diet Dr. Pepper's from my diet.
Maggie Watkins was the chair. She made it a point
to let me know that last year's winner of our live auction --the
Aspen condo we donated last year had called her yesterday to let
her know she was enjoying Aspen this week and would not be able
to attend the luncheon, but praised the attention she was receiving
from the Ritz Carlton Club in Aspen, Colorado.
Yolanda Walther-Meade gave a splendid greeting
as well as looking quite beautiful as her family was honored as
the 2006 legacy family. Her daugher had flown in from New York,
where she is a practicing attorney on Wall Street. Everyone was
enjoying the beautiful weather in Coronado."
Pat Brown, of KNSD
7/39, enjoyed emceeing the event once again. Brown's
comments:
"After five years as emcee of this powerful event, I continue
to be amazed at not only the continued growth of awareness that
heart disease is the #1 killer of women, but also at the depth
of feeling women (and men) have about this movement. It really
DOES come from the heart!"
