Century
Club of San Diego Presents
“Diamond In The Rough” Gala
Saturday, January 21, 5:30pm at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel
Featuring
Grammy Award Winner Trisha Yearwood
Event
To Benefit Pro Kids Academy and Monarch School
The
Century Club of San Diego, the organizing body for the
annual Buick Invitational golf tournament, will host their inaugural
Diamond In The Rough Gala/Dinner
Saturday, January 21 at 5:30 p.m. at the Manchester
Grand Hyatt Hotel.
The
event will feature Grammy Award winning artist Trisha
Yearwood in concert and will benefit Pro Kids
Academy and the Monarch School.
Established
in 1994, The Pro Kids Golf Academy & Learning Center's mission
is to provide a safe, healthy and positive environment
where children can spend their free time learning and playing
golf. The Pro Kids Golf program helps combat juvenile delinquency
in providing students an opportunity to learn new lifetime skills
and be initiated into the strong value system of honesty and integrity
that is an important part of the game of golf. Located in the
City Heights area of San Diego, California, Pro Kids utilizes
the eighteen-hole par-three Colina Park Golf Course and clubhouse.
The
Monarch School’s mission is to provide an environment where
homeless and at-risk youth can improve their lives through education.
Monarch operates through a partnership between the San
Diego County Office of Education, which provides the
educational component, and the Monarch School Project, a non-profit
formed to raise money for the non-traditional needs of Monarch's
students, such as after-school programs, visual and performing
arts, field trips, mentoring, tutoring, and post-graduation support,
as well as, the basics of laundry facilities, food, clothing,
and personal hygiene items.
“We’re
really looking forward to the Diamond In The Rough event and how
it will impact our San Diego youth. Having Trisha Yearwood will
be a true centerpiece to the gala and this will quickly be one
of the landmark fundraising events for our community each year,”
said Bill Potter, President of the Century Club of San
Diego. “Both Pro Kids Golf Academy and Monarch
School are certainly deserving charities and we’re looking
forward to presenting their organizations a substantial check
from event proceeds. With the support of all the Century Club
members, we feel our event will be a huge success in our first
year and will grow year after year.”
On
her website, Trisha’s musical prowess is simply explained.
“She has crafted a musical career that is not only timely,
but timeless. Day by day, she has earned success alongside only
a handful of others not content with the immediacy of trend or
compromise. Fortunately for her, the rewards have duly arrived.
Fortunately for music lovers, the inspiration and virtue remain
intact.”
