Seacrest Village Fashion Luncheon 2008 Sizzles with Colorful Neiman Marcus Couture

'A Mission to Nurture and Enrich the Quality of Life of the Residents of Seacrest Village Retirement Communities.' - Women's Auxiliary Seacrest Village Retirement Communities

March 10th, 2008 marked the date for a 'must go to' fashion luncheon benefiting Seacrest Village Retirement Communities. The event took place at the Hilton La Jolla. With the theme 'Designing Dreams,' the fashion luncheon included a silent auction, a raffle, a perfect lunch, and one very colorful Neiman Marcus 'Art of Fashion' Spring 2008 fashion show. Gucci, Prada and more were the standard. So were some very buff and shirtless male models that caused quite a stir among the hundreds of women. Sally B. Thornton later noted the model with 'Fuel Injection' across the buns of his swimsuit. All said with a twinkle in her eyes of course!

More there among the mix were Chairperson Lori Linderman, Seacrest Villa Women's Auxiliary President Mary Epsten, Barbara Bloom, Rusti Bartell Weiss, Diana Lombrozo, Ruby Cohen, Ellen Chodorow, Melissa Bartell, Teddie Lewis -Pincus, Robin Israel, and Lael Kovtun.

Lael was there with three generations of Kovtun's. Her daughter-in-law Annika Kovtun, and her grand-daughter Melina.

More there included Lee Goldberg in a bounty of South Sea and Tahitian Pearls, perfect suit and chapeau. Lee's guest list included a veritable well dressed list of who's who including Sally B. Thornton in Chanel, Valerie Cooper, Joan Jacobs, Tanya Brandes, Lynda Kerr in Dolce Gabbana, Alberta Feurzig, and Jeanne Jones in a trim white suit.

Others fashionably there were Mary Walker and Carol Karlovich in perfect suits and chapeaux, Cristull Hasson in a light green Yves St. Laurent suit, Joyce Grosvenor in Escada and Valentino, Roxi Link in rich green silk suit, and Lyndy Carreiro with some fabulous 'it' jewelry of turquoise and coral. From Neiman Marcus of course.

Guests enjoyed a simple and elegant lunch. Roasted red pepper and eggplant soup with a dollop of basil cream was the starter for the luncheon fare. The main dish was a grilled salmon with Israeli couscous, mixed greens, grilled vegetables, and a balsamic vinaigrette. Dessert was chocolate mousse cake with pistachio touille, and pear tart with crème anglaise and raspberry.

Although with the incredible fashion show preceding lunch this year, a lot of desserts were not finished. All in anticipation of some big, big shopping with well kept slim figures. And with tables named Gucci, Prada Etro, Theory, it was easy to think fashion!!

Speaking of fashion, Joyce Grosvenor had this to say regarding the show. "The fashions were spectacular - 'bright' is the word of the season this year. Neiman's always sets the standard for exciting combinations of color and texture when showing their designers."

And fashionable too was Joyce's daughter Dakota, at 5' 11," with perfect features like her mother, and a big thirteen years old, Dakota is currently being courted by several big name modeling agencies. And she already has one runway experience under her belt. She made her runway debut last Autumn for designer Yigal Azrouel. That fashion show was for the Burnham Institute.

But for this day it was a fashion for a great cause too. Seacrest Village Retirement Communities provides excellent living and health care for many, including resident Sybil Brown who spoke from the heart to attendees. In sum, activities and friends in a loving Jewish atmosphere.
