The 82nd Candlelight Ball Sparkles with Generosity! More Social Diary Event Coverage ....HOME
Guests arrived at the very posh Grand Del Mar for the 82nd Annual Candlelight Ball to festive holiday decorations, and the Candlelight's grand red carpet lined with magnificent floral arrangements by Kathy Wright. Three varieties of red roses, cream cymbidium orchids, cream sahar and camel roses, coral peonies, bright pink hydrangea, red mokara orchids, coral amaryllis and white and pink French tulips were beautifully arranged. A beautiful entree to an evening that benefits Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. Ted Killroy with General Chairman Betty Knight Scripps Serving as The General Chairman of the Candlelight Ball for the 9th year was once again, the delightful Betty Knight Scripps. Betty Knight Scripps described the reason for her patronage. "I am committed to supporting Scripps Health and the premier health care services it has provided to our community for nearly 90 years." And they have. Many fine doctors and supporters were present including Andrea and Dr. Shawn Evans, Debbie Turner and Conrad Prebys, Sharon Dunn, Drs. Tika and Brent Eastman, and Rosemary and Chris Van Gorder. Chris Van Gorder is the President and CEO of Scripps Health. Guests enjoyed fine fare at cocktail hour in the Capella Room with entertainment by a jazz trio. Dinner in the grand ballroom and dancing to The Bob Hardwick Sound kept the gala going until late. A special surprise was the 'Rat Pack-esque' performance by Peter Pavone. Peter was flown in from Las Vegas to surprise Mrs. Scripps with 3 special songs; Fly Me to the Moon, It Had To Be You, and Almost Like Being in Love. A great evening for a great cause. Through Betty Knight Scripps' generosity and leadership over the last 9 years, over $22 million has been raised to support lifesaving care at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.
